We Are UBC BizTech

UBC BizTech (formerly known as the UBC Business Technology Network) was founded in 2007 as the official undergraduate club for the Business Technology Management option at the Sauder School of Business.

From the beginning, BizTech set out to bridge the gap between business and technology, and over the years, it has grown into UBC’s largest technology club.

Innovation

The Development Team, formerly known as the Innovation Team, was founded in 2019 by Cris Mihailescu to enhance the BizTech membership experience. Future teams would expand on this vision: “To provide the best club development experience (on campus) for BT developers, BT executives, and BT members.”

In 2021, the Development Team launched app.ubcbiztech.com, allowing for in-house event management and registrations. Over subsequent years, the platform evolved to include robust membership management, Stripe payment integrations, and interactive event experiences like BluePrint's gamified Companion app and Innovent's shopping-cart format.

By 2024 and 2025, the team delivered innovations such as NFC networking cards, the BluePrint Wrapped experience, and feedback platforms like UX Live and ProductX Judging, further cementing their commitment to continuous innovation within the UBC community.

Culture and Alumni

In May 2023, BizTech hosted its first-ever Legacy Night, welcoming alumni back to the Vancouver campus to reconnect, celebrate past milestones, and share insights with current members.

The original BizBot began as a simple, friendly 2D green box, representing BizTech’s early beginnings. Today, it has evolved into a sleek, navy 3D futuristic design—embodying innovation, technology, and the future of BizTech!
